Rev. Ford is originally from Walterboro, SC. Born 10/27/61. He is married to Jearline Bonaparte; they have twin sons, Derrick and Eric.
He attended South Carolina State University but earned his BA in Management from St. Leo University in St. Leo Florida in 1989. He graduated from Hood Theological Seminary in Salisbury, N.C. and received a Master of Divinity. He has completed Clinical Pastoral Education training at the VA Medical Center in Memphis TN and the Carolina Medical Center, Charlotte, N.C. in 1998. He served as a hospital chaplain intern at St. Joseph/ Chandler Hospital in Savannah, GA. He served in the US Army as a chaplain assist from May 1983-December 1998.
He preached his initial sermon in 1991 and was ordained in 1998 by the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Assoc., at the Emanuel Baptist Church in Jacksboro, SC.
He has served as an interim pastor, youth pastor, Noon Day Bible School teacher, men’s choir chaplain, and youth adult ministry president.
He is certified as a Sunday School teacher and is currently working as an intern to complete his certification for Dean of Christian Education
He has been a chaplain/pastor for the Bureau of Prisons since October 1998. He is a lifetime member of the SC State University Alumni Assoc. and of the NAACP.
Rev. Ford grew up in a Methodist Church. He will need to take (3) courses: The Discipline, history of UM, and more to be fully ordained as a UM minister. He moved to the Augusta area, 10/20/23 and currently attends Christ Fellowship Church on Richmond Hill Rd.
